We have several ESA-funded activities in the development of our patented cubic cavity that has very low vibration sensitivity, and typically priming 50% of these. The cavities are being developed for providing an ultra-stable 1064 nm laser (for an ESA next-generation gravity mission using laser interferometry between two spacecraft) and a 1397 nm clock laser (for a neutral strontium lattice optical clock). A further cavity-based clock control unit for stabilising the additional cooling and auxiliary laser frequencies required for the strontium lattice cooling and clear-out transitions. Together with UK and European companies, we are undertaking environmental testing for radiation, shake and shock, to develop full space qualification of the cavity and clock components.Cubic-cavity vacuum chamber.png
