The use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is an increasingly important enabler in surveillance, security and defence. It is also a potential platform for airborne demonstration of space payloads, such as Earth observation instrumentation.
Through the LTPA, QinetiQ provides a controlled and sanitised environment for development, testing and training with UAS. Additional services include:
- Take-off and landing sites
- Targets of opportunity
- Specially deployed targets for sensor trials
Systems including Watchkeeper, Scan Eagle, Falco and Demon have used QinetiQ facilities across the UK.
